How to choose floor lamps
Floor lamps add light exactly where you need it, without any wiring. Place an arc lamp over a sofa or reading chair, or use a torchiere to bounce soft light off the ceiling in a living room.
For reading, choose a lamp with an adjustable head or a shade that sits at about shoulder height when you are seated.

Most floor lamps are 58 to 64 inches tall. For reading, the bottom of the shade should be near shoulder height when seated.
Are LED floor lamps dimmable?
Many include a built-in dimmer or touch control. This is listed in the product details.
Where should I place an arc floor lamp?
Behind or beside a sofa, so the shade hangs over the seating area without blocking walkways.
