      How to size a linear chandelier

      Pick a fixture about two-thirds the length of your table or island, with at least 6 inches of clearance from each end.

      Hang it 30 to 36 inches above the tabletop. In rooms with ceilings over 8 feet, add about 3 inches per extra foot of ceiling height.

      Do linear chandeliers need a special mount?

      Most install on a standard junction box, but longer, heavier fixtures may need extra ceiling support.
